Weekends are for....

BASEBALL

I love it I caught the ball in action.

The weather forecast said there would be rain in the late afternoon BUT they were wrong...imagine that. We sat in the rain to watch Connor play baseball. They won their first one against the Trojans. They played great. They lost their second one to the Muskies. That was on Saturday, so we they had to be back to the ballpark at 9:00a.m. for Bracket play.

Connor napping ; )

The first game, Sunday morning, was tolerable, weather wise. The boys played great and had the best triple play EVER. They won, against the Jr. Cardinals. They got a short break, and during the time the wind picked up, and the temperature dropped and it was FREEZING out.

Jack on third!

I have to admit I only stayed for 2 innings and had to come home. They were playing the Bulldogs, which were the second seed. After I got home and warmed up, Luke called and said "Mom, they won". So, then it was on to another game against the Eastern Iowa Styx, which is a 13U Major team and they pulled it off, and won. So, they were off to the championship game against the Muskies who beat them the day before 12-1. They lost to them 8-4.

These boys deserve a big pat on the back. They were at that ball field from 9a.m. to 7p.m. in freezing cold weather conditions. They are believing in themselves, and battled all day long. To the players who didn't get to play but battled through the elements, and supported their team, thank you. You are appreciated!!!

PG Scrimmage

Luke at Catcher

Luke had a scrimmage, last night, against the Linn County Cobras. They have only had one other scrimmage, so they need this to work some of the kinks out. They did win but they have some work to do : )
Doesn't Luke look awesome in his new gear. I know the guys don't get it but it is all about how you look ; )

This is Blake, he is the "new guy" on the team this year. My heart went out to him, last night, because it has to be so hard, at 11, to be on a new team especially a team that did so well last year. We are excited to have him and he fits in well with the boys!!

Here's a shout out to our newest fan, Tyson. I also have to give a shout out to Denise, Tyson's Mom. Is she amazing or what for bringing this little guy out, on a cool April night, to watch some baseball. By the way, she has 3 other boys....or is that 4 other boys???

Not Baseball Weather

Connor had a baseball game today against the Warriors. I was out there bundled up eating sunflower seeds, to try and forget how cold I was. This is April and I am ready for some fun in the hot hot sun!! I do solemnly swear that I WILL NOT complain when it is 90 degrees with 80% humidity. I can handle limp hair but not cold hands and toes.

I have to admit, that I left after they took Connor out and the game was even tied. Sorry, but it was 7p.m. and if I didn't get home to warm up, I would be cold the rest of the night. Then I wouldn't be able to sleep and I tell you what, I need my beauty sleep!!

Here's a shout out to Jack : ) Thanks for the pose!!

Are You Ready For Some Baseball

Luke had his first Baseball game today in Clinton. The Coaches arranged a scrimmage with the Clinton Comets. Luke's team doesn't have much competition in Cedar Rapids, so we will have to travel more this year. I wasn't able to go to this game because I stayed in C.R. to watch Connor. Luke's team played great and looked really good from what I understand.

Joel And Jack

Connor had his first game today against the Benton Bobcats. They did not win but looked good for not practicing much. Connor looked great, at bat. He had a great hit right between the center fielder and right fielder. If he was a little faster with the feet, it would of been a triple but he got a rbi. I have a feeling when he gets a hold of the ball this year it is going to fly. He also played great at first base, for not much fielding yet.

I didn't take many pictures because it was cold. These are two of Connor's buddies that I happened to get a picture of.

The forecast doesn't look too good, more snow, so I am not sure when we will get some more baseball in. Luke is fortunate to have access to the Perfect Game facility, so he is there tonight practicing.
